London Sutton August 2007

My new friends from London alerted me to the GLTA tournament in London, held at the National Junior Tennis Centre in Sutton.

Unfortunately I did not make any pictures, but I did win my very first GLTA match. In the 2nd round I had 2 matchpoints but still lost.

See my results below, first singles and then doubles:

Antwerpen Eurogames July 2007

My first GLTA tournament was the Eurogames in Antwerp in July 2007.

This is the Opening Ceremony on the main square in Antwerpen: just like the Olympics, complete with official countdown and fireworks.

This is after my consolation round doubles match, that we lost 1-8.
From left to right: Roelof, my dutch doubles partner from Amsterdam, Juan David, my Spanish opponent, one of the organisers of the Madrid GLTA tournament, myself and Juan David's doubles partner Leonardo.

This is Lies, from Boxmeer, a 10 minute drive from my hometown Venray.

These are friends I made, all from London!
From right to left: Sanya, Marlon, Donny and Mark. Sanya and Donny won the doubles in A.

Local TV station ATV interviewed me and it was broadcasted on local tv. I was even recognised by a local. This is the interview, in 2 parts, as the file was too big to upload. It is filmed straight from the tv, and I am waiting for ATV to send me the original, hence the quality is not that great.

Ofcourse the Eurogames close with an official Closing Ceremony, with the handing over of the flag to Barcelona: the venue of 2008's Eurogames.
